Symposium on CPP

The Hong Kong Society for Paediatric Endocrinology and Metabolism (HKSPEM) was honoured to welcome Professor Anders Juul from Denmark as our distinguished guest speaker for the Symposium on Central Precocious Puberty (CPP), co-organized and supported by Ipsen.

Professor Juul delivered an insightful presentation on the secular trend, diagnosis, and management of CPP, sharing his extensive clinical experience and the latest evidence in this rapidly evolving field. The meeting also featured valuable local case presentations and discussions, providing an excellent opportunity for participants to exchange views on the practical challenges encountered in clinical practice.

The Society is deeply grateful to Professor Juul for his generous support, inspiring lecture, and thoughtful discussions, which greatly enriched the educational experience of all attendees. We also extend our sincere appreciation to our local speakers, moderators, and all participants for their active engagement and meaningful contributions throughout the meeting.

It served as a platform for knowledge sharing, professional development, and collaboration among healthcare professionals dedicated to improving the care and outcomes of paediatric patients with XLH. 

The HKSPEM Annual Scientific Meeting cum AGM

The HKSPEM Annual Scientific Meeting cum AGM held on 2 March 2024 was an immense success, captivating attendees with its insightful presentations on the future of diabetic care, specifically focusing on exploring insulin pump therapy. The event fostered collaboration, networking, and knowledge exchange among healthcare professionals, creating a platform for interdisciplinary discussions and promoting innovation in diabetic care. Additionally, council members were elected for the year 2024 to 2026. Their dedication and commitment will undoubtedly contribute to the continued success and growth of the HKSPEM in the years to come.

小胖威利症的小朋友通常自出生起已要面對各種健康的挑戰。由最初嬰幼兒期的低肌張力、餵食困難，至到幼童時期的胃口激增、進食過量和體重上升，以及青春期過後因為肥胖症引起的各種併發症和情緒問題，都令到家長們疲於奔命。

有見及此，香港兒童內分泌科學會和香港罕見病聯盟決定聯合舉辦【「胖」您同行：香港小胖威利症家長大會】，是香港第一個為這一班需要關注和照料的病人家長舉辦的家長大會。我們希望透過這個活動，與家長們分享這個遺傳病的成因和種種健康的問題，亦希望令到他們覺得在和病童走過這個旅途的時候不會覺得孤單。

Puberty and Growth Symposium

To celebrate UN World Diabetes Day on November 14th, Youth Diabetes Action (YDA) is organising the BLUE NOVEMBER campaign, which aims to raise public awareness of the serious impact of diabetes.

Hike for Youth Diabetes is the signature event of the campaign, this fundraising event will support the work of Youth Diabetes Action (YDA), to serve children living with diabetes and their family members, helping them to live a healthy life and pursue their dreams!
