Hikes for Youth Diabetes




As one of the supporting organisations, we would like to announce Youth Diabetes Action is organising the first “Hikes for Youth Diabetes”.  Please come and support our young children with diabetes. 

Objectives
       To motivate and empower young diabetes members through a series of progressive hiking training
       To encourage and engage family participation
       To raise continuous support from corporations by close acquaintance with young children with diabetes
       To increase public awareness of young diabetes
       To develop event organization skills of young members of Team YDA
       To raise funds to support activities of YDA and set up of the Centre of Excellence

Youth Diabetes Action - Youth Camp 2015

26th  to 27th September 2015 (Saturday to Sunday)
Anchor House, Ma Wan Park
The Boys' Brigade, Hong Kong

A series of team building activities were designed and the medical volunteers from Paediatric Endocrine doctors, DM nurses and Dietitian have provided professional advice, guidance and on-site support for the camp.


It gave the youth a golden opportunity to increase their understanding in how to cope with their daily medical needs, and to improve their self care, problem solving skills and daily lives. Besides, they were flourished to develop their own social network with friends of similar backgrounds.

All of us had 2 great days!

As a co-organizing society, we successfully held a seminar with regard to the management of diabetes mellitus for children in July. We were glad to invite Professors PT Cheung and Alice Kong as well as Dr. WS Chow to enlighten us on the all-rounded management of DM in both mental and physical health aspects.

Discussion on Transitional Diabetes Service
