小胖威利症的小朋友通常自出生起已要面對各種健康的挑戰。由最初嬰幼兒期的低肌張力、餵食困難，至到幼童時期的胃口激增、進食過量和體重上升，以及青春期過後因為肥胖症引起的各種併發症和情緒問題，都令到家長們疲於奔命。
有見及此，香港兒童內分泌科學會和香港罕見病聯盟決定聯合舉辦【「胖」您同行：香港小胖威利症家長大會】，是香港第一個為這一班需要關注和照料的病人家長舉辦的家長大會。我們希望透過這個活動，與家長們分享這個遺傳病的成因和種種健康的問題，亦希望令到他們覺得在和病童走過這個旅途的時候不會覺得孤單。
